Technical framework
The design, construction and execution of the works shall comply with the relevant South African National Standards (SANS), applicable industry guidelines, statutory requirements and the Employer's technical specifications.
The following codes and standards shall be adopted, where applicable to the scope of works:
SANS 10160 (relevant parts), SANS 10100 (where applicable), SANS 10162 (relevant parts), SANS 10161 and SANS 10144.
Applicable parts of the SANS 2001 series and SANS 1200 series, where specified in the contract.
Applicable COLTO Standard Specifications, TRH and TMH publications, and relevant road authority standards.
Relevant SANS standards, the Red Book, applicable water and sanitation design guidelines, and the relevant municipal authority's standards.
Applicable SANS specifications, relevant municipal stormwater design manuals and recognised hydraulic and hydrological design guidelines.
Applicable SANS 10160-5 requirements, relevant geotechnical standards and the recommendations of the approved geotechnical investigation.
Applicable SANS 2001 specifications, project-specific requirements and the Employer's technical specifications.
All applicable standards shall be read in conjunction with the project-specific specifications, approved design documentation, statutory requirements and instructions of the relevant authority. The applicable editions, amendments and contractual order of precedence shall be confirmed before commencement of design and construction.
